J Spring Fashion Show on the Hudson Major SuccessJessica Minh Anh transformed the Hudson River in New York into the world’s newest catwalk on 19 March 2015. The highly anticipated 100 metre floating catwalk presented fashion and New York, as we know it, in a new light. Pushing the visual envelopes, Jessica had guests seated facing the multi-faceted glass window of Bateaux New York while the boat is cruised and models walked in front of them as if they were walking on water. Thanks to the panoramic view from the giant glass boat, New York’s famous skyline and its architectural masterpieces such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and One World Trade Center, became the natural backdrop for the iconic catwalk.
The show presented a combination of haute couture, high end ready-to-wear, and luxury accessory collections from four continents. The exclusively selected designers embraced tradition, yet experimented with innovative techniques of modern designs. Jessica Minh Anh’s catwalks are more than just a fashion presentation, as “they combine art, architecture, culture, and fashion”.
Returning to Jessica Minh Anh’s iconic catwalk is Indian celebrity designer Shilpa Reddy, who reinvents cultural embellishments and embroideries on her impeccable cuts and clean structures. Indonesian powerhouse Bateeq also impressed with a heritage inspired collection, which combines traditional motifs and contemporary bold designs.
Lebanese celebrity designer Tony Ward added class and sophistication to the catwalk with an exclusive Heritage collection. On selecting Tony Ward, Jessica Minh Anh said “I am mesmerised by Tony Ward's designs, which reflect a captivating fusion of materials, shape, and colours.” Striking an almost unattainable balance between two contradictory states of whimsicality and boldness, Tony Ward’s collection was dazzling the Big Apple.
Ukrainian representative Lesya Lozneva chose a different style, which focused on airy dresses and alluring bodysuits using silk, organza, delicate wool, and soft cotton.
Adding colors and glamour, Colombian-German jeweler Sonia Heilbron premiered an abstract handmade collection, which incorporated Swarovski crystals in a new creative way.
Other participating designers included New Zealand talent Frances Jerard, Pakistani designer Syeda Amera, Romanian haute couture brand Sabres, and Jessica Minh Anh’s favourite Japanese designer Yumi Katsura.
J Spring Fashion Show 2015 marked Jessica Minh Anh’s ninth history making catwalk around the world, following her recent sky-high successes on the Eiffel Tower, the World Trade Center, and most impressively, the Grand Canyon Skywalk.
