Derek Lam was born in 1967 in San Francisco to Chinese-American parents. After studying at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City, Lam worked for designer Michael Kors, before launching his own label in 2003. Polyvore users love Lam's mix of classical style and modernist cuts.
