ANDREA INCONTRI Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience 2013

Vogue Fashion Dubai takes us to view Italian designer Andrea Incontri’s 2013 collection. While the Emirates are a Muslim country, they are one of the more forward thinking countries in the Middle East; haut couture fashion definitely flourishes here. Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience 2013 was the first of its kind to be held in the Middle East. The fashion show was held in an atrium inside the Dubai Mall where an exhibition of 25 years of Vogue Italia covers was on display, highlighting Vogue’s elegant style. It was a magical evening with accented perfectly with the impressive fountains within the mall.

Representatives from the major fashion houses from around the world were present: Versace, Armani, Chanel, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dior and Elie Saab.

Incontri graduated as an Architect from the Politecnico di Milano. A mixture of architecture, art, design and film inspire his work. He brings an aesthetic vision to his creations. His portion of the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience centers on the concept of zero gravity. His color palette is blue, pink, red and black. The fabrics in the collection are velvet wool, boucle wool, tweed, doubled jersey in cool and waxed rubber canvas. There are 67 floral and jacquard garments with 8 different looks within his collection.

The first garment on the catwalk is a tweed two-piece suit made of woven boucle wool, consisting of a dress jacket in Blanched Almond. The knee-length jacket has elbow-length sleeves, with two vertical beaded panels of Topaz, Sky Blue and Crimson. The bead pattern is repeated on the front of the mid-thigh length sleeveless dress. Both pieces have a square neckline. Both pieces are very elegant.

A large floral print dress with jewel neckline is up next. This tea-length dress has lightly padded shoulders, long sleeves and the color scheme is Blanched Almond, Arylide Yellow and Aquamarine. A thin belt made with the same fabric accents this dress.

The next item is a two-piece beige tweed suit consisting of a hip-length jacket with elbow-length sleeves, rounded hem, and one breast pocket, and a double panel flared knee-length skirt. There is no collar to the jacket and it is closed with one small button at the front. This outfit looks very preppy and covers a Pale Yellow with red trimmed t-shirt.

The floral pattern is repeated here in a tea-length velvet wool dress with scoop neckline and short sleeves. This outfit is accented with a large collared floral tight fitting brimless hat with the same color scheme.

Noteworthy garment in this collection was a lovely knee-length Classic Rose color dress made with velvet wool. This sleeveless dress has a V-neckline, epaulets and a thin belt made of the same material and color. The outfit is accented with a small Crimson and Black handbag.

The words to describe Andrea Incontri’s collection: simple elegance without being ostentatious.
