Sarah Jessica Parker Tells All About Her Daring Met Gala Ensemble

Sarah Jessica Parker wore an outfit that broke the internet to this year’s Met Gala. Some loved it, some hated it, and many were confused by it––especially by the hat. The 50-year-old actress arrived at the annual benefit in a custom hat designed by Philip Treacy and a floor length gown designed by the actress in partnership with H&M.

The outfit was harmonious with the event’s theme, “China: Through the Looking Glass”, with distinct references to Chinese architecture and the use of textiles and prints that are commonly used in Asia.

SJP came up with the design herself when H&M approached her with their Conscious Collection, a project where they create garments from repurposed and reused fabrics. Sarah told Cosmpolitan.com that H&M, “basically dug up every piece of old fabric they could find in Sweden, and it's all been incorporated into this [dress],” and went on to say, “I knew I wanted poppies all over, and so we found somebody in New York to hand-embroider all these. It's been a total fascinating and interesting experience, actually.”

Well, there you have it. Only Sarah could pull off a completely recycled dress and avant garde head piece so gracefully.
