Versace Goes Gaga as Kidman’s Grace Delayed

Another fashion, entertainment and lifestyle update from Fashion Frontline!

Singer Grace Jones and global diva Lady Gaga inspired the Versace Spring/Summer 2014 presentation at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Donatella Versace now casts her eye to dressing a different kind of celebrity, however, and speaking to the The Sunday Times, she expressed her desire to dress the U.K.’s Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton. Questioned on the styling of the queen, Versace said, “I could put her in the colors in this collection: the lilac, pale pinks and purples. But my dream was to put her in black.”

Swedish fashion retailer H&M is launching a new range of recycled clothing. The line uses fabric gleaned from its Garment Collection Initiative, which allows the public to drop off fabric or garments in any condition to H&M. The line will initially debut in capsule form, with five pieces for men and five for women. The move is part of an an overall ethical fashion campaign that is driving new methods of production at H&M.

The release date for Nicole Kidman’s new film, Grace Of Monaco, has been delayed again. The Grace Kelly biopic has had a host of problems with ongoing battles between French director Olivier Dahan and distributor The Weinstein Company. During production, Grace Kelly’s children requested a host of changes to the script and publicly questioned the factual basis of much of the film.

Back in Paris, Christian Dior invited top students from 16 international colleges to watch a sneak peak of the French fashion label’s new Spring/Summer line. Participating schools included Tokyo’s Bunka Fashion College, London’s Central Saint Martins and New York’s Parsons The New School for Design.
