How Harry Styles has gone from an X-Factor contestant to an international pop star

Here at Fashion One we are looking at the international pop star that is Harry Styles and how his career has transformed since his first audition on X-Factor. Harry originally auditioned on his own but was later rejected—until music mogul Simon Cowell decided to bring back Harry along with four other contestants to form the boyband we all now know as One Direction.

Harry—born Harry Edward Styles in Redditch, Worcestershire on February 1, 1994—used to work in a bakery in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire and was also the frontman of his own band White Eskimo and played gigs in the same town before starting his X-Factor journey. One Direction actually came third in the 2010 X-Factor competition but were still signed by Cowell and have since released three successful albums. Albums that have gained them countless award success including two BRIT awards and four MTV Music Video Awards.

Their debut single “What Makes You Beautiful” went to number one in the UK charts and has since sold five million copies worldwide, making it one of the best selling singles of all time. He also appeared in the popular One Direction movie, This is Us. However, it’s not just his music and film achievements that have added to his success. This international pop star is also renowned for his signature style that has awarded him MTV Europe Music Award’s “best look award” and a prestigious British Fashion Awards honor of best British style. It seems his fans simply can’t get enough of his floppy-hair-and-skinny-jeans combo.
