Diesel Black Gold Perfects a London Inspired Punk Rock Look

The DIESEL BLACK GOLD men’s autumn/winter 2015 collection was shown at Milan Fashion Week.

Designer and creative director Andreas Melbostad talks about the London inspired collection following on from the opening of the first Diesel Black Gold store in the UK capital last year and reminisces about his own memories of the city when he was younger. His concept was to play with different, classic London inspired fashion themes by combining traditional men’s tailored jackets and tweed fabrics with iconic punk and rock subculture aesthetics.

The show included numerous outerwear options such as mid length tailored coats, studded leather biker jackets and embellished bomber jackets. These were worn over combinations of dark tweed blazers and sweaters with distressed and altered denim jeans and pants in a very wearable street read style. The designer also spoke to us about masculine customization and explained the recreated D.I.Y elements of the collection.

One of the focal points of the collection was the sheer variety of embellishments on the garments from ripped and cut denim and tweed to added zips and patches and essential punk studs, safety pins and chains. The sometimes neat and preppy tailoring was given extra dashes of cool with these customized elements and the dark palette further channelling the rebellious punk spirit.
