“The Truth is Out There” Rynshu Presents His Alien Invaders for AW15

We bring you the autumn/winter 2015 mens collection from Rynshu at Paris Fashion Week.

The Japanese designer celebrated his 30th year working in the industry with the collection entitled “Little Grey”. Alien heads, sharp suits, leather and glistening metallics featured heavily in the cool and street ready collection. The make up look used powdered out eyebrows and lips to give models a mysterious and eerie inhuman vibe with occasional bug eyed sunglasses emphasizing the space man theme.

The alien head was a staple of the show, from the all-over print suits and dresses, popping up in accessories like caps, hats, scarves and neckties, and even in the detailing of the turned up cuffs on a 3/4 length leather jacket. Other fabrics looked like unknown alien skins, with the structured cut outs and textured quilting details of some pieces further suggesting reptilian scales and body forms. Smart tailored jackets were shown in a variety of styles and fabrics, including a print reminiscent of a rorschach test, with some in space grey and pewter shades featuring faux zip button hole details and a photographic Albert Einstein print emblazoned both shirts and drop crotch pants.

The collection, which also included several women’s pieces, incorporated many pop culture references with nods to outfits from Men in Black, The Matrix, The X-Files and Mars Attacks. If we are to question the future of menswear design then we can be sure the Rynshu believes that the truth is out there…
