Paul & Joe Keep a Feminine Touch with Bows and Soft Colors in a Youthful, Boyish Collection

Fashion One brings you the Paul & Joe ready-to-wear collection for autumn/winter 2015 at Paris Fashion Week. Watch the models undergoing hair and makeup backstage where the look focused on the eyes with strong doll-like top and bottom lashes and side-parted, swept back hair.

We speak to the brand’s creative director Sophie Mechaly who tells us all about her concept and explains the key points of the new season’s garments. As Paul & Joe approaches its 20th year in the industry, Mechaly wanted to make something new and surprising for the winter collection that was a little more unusual than previous seasons. She stressed the importance of wanting to please her loyal customers whilst understanding the need to appeal to a younger generation and keep moving forward.

The collection mixes boyish elements like Saville Row influenced tailored jackets and rolled up Bermuda shorts with a soft and sophisticated feminine color palette. Elsewhere on the runway there were smart trousers paired with soft sweaters, loose shift dresses, romantic bow collars and an array of gorgeous evening gowns. The designer also mentioned her attempt at radical styling with punk-ish beret’s embellished with safety pins, choker charm necklaces and sturdy tall military boots which further demonstrated the versatility of the clothes. Recurring horizontal stripes, along with the berets also gave a fresh modern Parisian vibe.
